Enterprising Education on the SQUARE
Vision
E-Square has the vision to establish an enterprising educational hub
at the old town square of Port Elizabeth. This stimulating environment
provides a buzzing backdrop to create a node of growth and hope in the
Eastern Cape.
Two themes, Entrepreneurship and Education, form the core of this vision. 
Empowerment through Education
The empowerment of people through education is the foundation stone
and provides the platform on which the vision is built. This foundation
is already firmly in place and is evident in the 2000-plus students
enrolled in the various educational entities of E-Square Enterprises.
The educational activities were started in 1994, and now include
various specialty fields of educational specialization, ranging from
primary school to vocational courses to a Private Higher Education
Institution.
Entrepreneurship
E-Square
has therefore embarked on a special initiative to stimulate
entrepreneurship amongst its students and staff. The simple reality is
that you cannot teach pupils to be entrepreneurial if the teacher is
not entrepreneurial in his or her approach to education. Thus two
activities are being pursued. The first one is aimed at ensuring that
teaching at E-Square will be enterprising, and the second one is aimed
at supporting students to become entrepreneurs in their own right. This
takes place in the form of specific projects in which the
student-entrepreneur plays a leading role, and can even result in the
student starting an independent business

E-Square
Enterprises (Pty) Ltd is the holdings company of a group of companies,
each focused at a niche area of specialization in fields supporting the
E-Square vision. The shareholding in the various subsidiary companies
varies depending on the relationships established with partners in the
particular field of operation. It also co-ordinates activities group
wide, and is the logical point of contact for prospective partners.
Collaborative Partnering
The
E-Square initiative provides exciting opportunities to like-minded
organizations to participate and collaborate with E-Square to make this
vision a reality:
- Property Development to upgrade the town square
and to provide facilities to house the educational activities as well
as the entrepreneurial business
- A Bursary Scheme has been set up to support needy students to complete their studies

A Venture Fund has been established to provide budding entrepreneurs
with much needed start-up capital or to fund promising projects
- A not for profit company has been set up to support students in the development of their Art and Musical Talent

Within the educational environment, various specialist activities
provide opportunities for support and sponsorship, including the IT
Development Lab and the Hospitality Facility
